Halloween and the Events Leading Up...

This Halloween was by far the most fun and eventful Halloween we have had as a family! Connor really knew what was going on this year and the excitment leading up to the day was so fun to see. Layla wasn't quite as aware but she knew something was going on and everytime she would see a pumpkin she would loudly exclaim "Halloween Party!!" :) The Halloween events began weeks before. With a pumpkin carving in Connor's class at school, choosing of costumes (a first for the kids this year), fall decorating at home and pumpkin patch visiting. The week/weekend before Halloween the events really kicked in! Starting with Mommy's Halloween themed supper club (first year we have dressed up), pumpkin carving at home, the annual Halloween nighboorhood party in Liam, Evan, Graham and Sarafina's neighboorhood, dress-up and trick or treating at Connor's school, Mommy's work Halloween bash and then the finale...real live trick-or-treating and cookout in Southwood (thanks to friends, Ian and Erin). This was their first real trick-or-treating experience and it was a success! Connor LOVED it! Layla (we later discovered) was a little under the weather and wasn't quite as into it as big brother, but still had fun and still had the experience. Holiday's really do take on a whole new meaning when you have children, they just get better and better!

Event 1: Pumpkin Patch! The kids got to pick out pumpkins, torment a caged bunny (hehe), ride ponies AND see real live working diggers. That last part was completely unrelated to the pumpkin patch, but by far the hit of the event for Connor. Side note: Connor chose this outfit against my desire to put him in something nice and "fallish." :) The boy loves his "comfy clothes!"

Event 2: Mommy's Halloween themed supper club. Bryce, the host, outdid herself. It was a great night!

Event 3: Traditional Daddy/Connor pumpkin carving. This is definitely a Daddy and Connor activity. And Mommy and Layla are perfectly okay with that. They LOVE it and LOVE doing it together. Even last year at 2 1/2 Connor was a champ and very focused. It is right up his alley!

Event 3: Trotman, Clark, Rietow Annual Neighborhood Party...thanks for hosting Clark's!

Event 4 & 5: Connor's school Halloween party! I didnt get any pics of the event. But they had so much fun! All the kids dressed up, they trick-or-treated throughout the church offices and had a pizza party (which I attended). And Mommy's Halloween bash at work. First year costume contest and fall party. Our department went with a theme...Wizard of Oz. And who did they appoint as Dorothy...yep, me! I called Auntie Jan and begged her to help me make a Dorothy costume. She accepted the challenge and did an OUTSTANDING job! It was perfect! Thank you, Aunt Jan!

Event 6: The finale!! Trick-or-treating! What a great first experience for the kids in Southwood. Oh my gosh, that neighborhood is insane on Halloween, but so much fun! After trick-or-treating our friends, Ian and Erin hosted a cookout. It was a great Halloween!
