New Beginnings

Monday, August 22 marked the day of new beginnings for Connor Adams. He, after 3 full years, left Ms. Lulu. He started at Ms. Lulu's when he was just 10 weeks old (I am still tearing up about it as I write this now). It literally was his second home. I am by nature an emotional person, so for me this was a REALLY big deal...much more so for me than Connor (he is only 3 1/2 after all:). We talked and talked to Connor about going to his new "big school", but I dont think he really got it until that week. Connor loves Ms. Lulu, her home and all the friends he made there...they will always be a part of his (and our) life! Here is Ms. Lulu and Connor on his last day! Thank you for taking the pic Ms. Lulu. :) We love you!

Now onto "big school" and enough with tears Mommy!! :) Connor LOVES his new school. He has not missed a beat and has jumped right in as if it is where he has always belonged. His new teacher has been teaching for 20 years and is wonderful with the kids (and easing Mommy concerns). The playground is probably the biggest hit. One of the best parts about the playground is he gets to play with best friend, Liam!! Liam is in the other 3 year old class,  but they still get to do a lot together. As to be expected, Connor and Liam got into trouble the second day (this will probably continue for many years to come) but have behaved since then! :) The biggest adjustment has been nap time. Sleeping in an open room with about 8 other kids (and no white noise machine..even Lulu had box fans) is VERY new and foreign to Connor. He will adjust though, they always do! As sad and emotional as this transition was for me, Connor was ready and it has been a wonderful 2 weeks for him at his new "big school!" Here are a few pics of Connor (and Liam) on the first day! (PS- Sissy is still at Ms. Lulu's providing lots of laughs on a daily basis...we don't even think she's noticed the boys being gone! :)

Eating breakfast his first morning of school (breakfast has always been a battle in our house). Mommy made banana bread for him the night before, one of his favorites!

Ready for school! He did get a much needed haircut that Saturday. :)

We saw Liam and Kelly in the parking lot and got to walk in together the very first day! Aren't they soo cute!

The director of the school is amazing. She took a picture of every child and sent it to every parent on the first day. Connor is not to fond of camera's these days. :)

The director also sent me this pic. Once she knew Connor was having a hard time sleeping, she sat with him one day at nap time until he fell asleep. Then sent me this pic....how wonderful is that!?!

Kids Say the Darndest Things – Part 2

Layla said "Daddy" way before she said "Mommy." I felt like the child was NEVER going to say Mommy (now she says it at least 200 times a day:). She even called me Daddy for a period of time. She loves her Daddy soo much. Well, Daddy is no longer Daddy to Layla, he is exclusively…"Chaaar-lee." Oooh, let me tell you, Chaaar-lee is not too happy about this one. She now greets us as "Hi Mommy, Hi Char-lee" or "Good morning Mommy, Good morning Char-lee." It is hilarious! So to help Daddy feel better about things he is only to be referred to as "Daddy" until little Layla switches back to calling her Daddy just that.. Hilarious child!

Connor has another new infatuation…statues. Not sure where he picked this up from, but either way he is fascinated with statues right now. He pretends to be a statue frequently. We bought the new animated movie Rio for the kids the other day and they LOVE it. In one of the scenes the birds are flying through Rio de Janeiro and they soar pass a huge statue of Jesus with his arms spread out to the side. Connor was FASCINATED! He immediately asked about the statue and Charlie told him “it’s a statue of Jesus.” Later that night after dinner, Connor and Layla were playing and Connor stopped, stood up, spread his arms out to the sides and said look Mom “I’m a statue of cheese-its!” It was ALL Charlie and I could do to not burst out in laughter, it was absolutely adorable! He of course meant “a statue of Jesus.” I love.that.boy!!!!!
