Easter Sunday also happened to be my Dad’s birthday this year. One of my Dad’s favorite places to be is St. Marks, so for his birthday and Easter Sunday we loaded up the kids and took a visit to the town of St. Marks. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day! I unfortunately forgot my camera…I was not happy with myself, but wonderful memories were made none the less! We played in the park, attempted to fly a kite (the wind didn’t quite agree), had a picnic by the water, walked to the marina and looked at all the boats and even spotted an alligator in the river. While looking for Mr. Alligator, Connor discovered BOUYS! Connor is a thinker, he likes to figure things out, he will sit and play, manipulate, discover and learn all he can about whatever his interest is at the time. Well, these buoys really intrigued him. He wanted to know where their eyes were, we told him they didn’t have eyes. He wanted to know exactly what purpose they served, we explained (quite a few times). So for the rest of the day he talked and talked about the buoys. He even sat all by himself at one point, legs crossed on top of a picnic table, just staring at the river at the amazing buoys. He told passerby’s about the buoys, waved by to the buoys, and went to the St. Marks marina and found buoys we could hold. He is in fact still talking about the buoys, everyday.
The funny thing about toddlers is they don’t always pronounce things exactly as they should be pronounced. Connor (my sweet boy) could not say buoys…he, the entire time to us and to everyone else (I am still laughing) pronounced them “BOOBIES.” It was absolutely priceless.
